About this role

Your new school

Start After October Half Term | Teaching Assistants, SEN TAs & 1:1 Support | B27

Looking for a fresh start this term? Make the move straight after half-term.

Hays Education is supporting friendly primary schools across Acocks Green and the wider B27 area who need extra support in the classroom for the rest of the autumn term and beyond. We are looking for caring, dependable Teaching Assistants, SEN Teaching Assistants and 1:1 Support Assistants who can start as soon as schools return after October half-term.

Whether you are an experienced TA, have supported pupils with additional needs, or are looking to build on your work with children in another setting, if you are patient, positive and keen to help every pupil thrive, this could be the next step for you.

Your new role

You will work alongside the class teacher, SENCo and wider school team to help pupils feel supported, included and ready to learn. Depending on the role, your day may involve:

  • Supporting learning and classroom activities across EYFS, KS1 or KS2
  • Providing 1:1 support for a pupil with SEND, including those with ASD, ADHD, SEMH or speech and language needs
  • Helping pupils work towards their EHCP or individual support plan targets
  • Guiding small groups and running focused interventions
  • Helping children develop confidence, independence and positive learning habits
  • Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour
  • Contributing to a calm, welcoming and inclusive classroom

Full-time and part-time options are available, including daily supply, long-term assignments and roles with the potential to become permanent.

What you'll need to succeed

Schools are particularly interested in people who bring the right attitude as well as relevant experience.
You should:

  • Have supported children in a school, nursery, SEN, childcare, youth work or similar setting
  • Ideally have experience supporting pupils with additional needs, or be keen to develop in SEN support
  • Genuinely enjoy helping children learn, grow and feel confident
  • Communicate well and work positively as part of a team
  • Be dependable, flexible and available to start after October half term
  • Ideally hold a Level 2 or Level 3 supporting teaching & learning, CACHE, NVQ or equivalent qualification

What you'll get in return

✅ Competitive rates of pay
✅ Dedicated support from a local consultant with school-based experience
✅ Access to free CPD and training opportunities
✅ Flexible work to suit your availability
✅ Opportunities in a variety of local schools
✅ Ongoing support throughout your assignment
