Working closely with the Site Agent, Sub Agents, Site Engineers, Foremen and subcontractors, you will oversee setting out, engineering controls, quality assurance, technical compliance and the day-to-day coordination of site engineering activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and support Site Engineers, ensuring accurate setting out, surveying, dimensional control and as-built records.
  • Review construction drawings, technical specifications and design information, identifying discrepancies and resolving technical queries with the design team.
  • Coordinate engineering activities across bulk earthworks, road construction, haul roads, drainage, fencing and associated civil infrastructure packages.
  • Ensure all works are delivered in accordance with approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), quality procedures and project specifications.
  • Prepare, review and maintain quality documentation, including inspection records, check sheets, as-built drawings, test results and handover documentation.
  • Raise and manage Requests for Information (RFIs), technical queries and design changes, ensuring issues are resolved before they affect site progress.
  • Coordinate material testing, compaction testing, concrete testing and other quality control activities as required by the works.
  • Monitor progress against the construction programme, identify potential engineering constraints and work proactively with the delivery team to maintain programme milestones.
  • Support the preparation and review of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), ensuring engineering activities are planned and executed safely.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements, including temporary works procedures and safe systems of work.
  • Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers and the wider project team to coordinate technical interfaces and maintain efficient site operations.
  • Maintain accurate daily records of engineering activities, labour, plant, materials and progress where required.
  • Support the Site Agent and wider management team with technical planning, problem-solving and the successful handover of completed works.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience working as a Section Engineer on major civil engineering, infrastructure or energy projects.
  • Strong technical background in civil engineering, with experience delivering earthworks, road construction, drainage, haul roads or associated infrastructure packages.
  • Experience managing site engineering activities, including setting out, surveying, dimensional control and as-built records.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, technical specifications and design information.
  • Good understanding of quality assurance procedures, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), material testing and handover documentation.
  • Experience coordinating Site Engineers, subcontractors and multi-disciplinary construction teams.
  • Valid CSCS card.
  • HNC/HND or degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
