About this role

Health, Safety & Fire Trainer
£45,000 basic + £4,800 car allowance | Permanent, full-time | Central London / hybrid / client sites

We're working with an established health, safety and fire consultancy that's looking for someone with strong technical knowledge who genuinely enjoys teaching people. This is a hands-on training role, delivering practical health and safety and fire safety courses to external clients, both face-to-face and online.

Most of the core training materials are already in place. You'll adapt courses to suit different clients and industries, updating slides, examples, practical exercises and videos so people understand how to apply what they've learned.

Location and working pattern You'll split your time between home, the company's central London office in Bloomsbury and client sites. Travel into London is normally around two days a week, but could be up to four days in busier training weeks. You don't need to live in London, but you do need to be able to travel in regularly and comfortably. Client-site travel is also part of the job.

What you'll be doing
  • Deliver health and safety, fire safety, fire awareness and related workplace training to external client teams, in person and via Microsoft Teams.

  • Adapt existing PowerPoint presentations, learning activities, videos and examples to suit each client, its industry and the experience of the learners.

  • Keep training materials up to date with current health and safety requirements and developments in fire safety legislation and practice.

  • Explain technical subjects in a clear, engaging and practical way, answer questions and give clients sensible H&S and fire safety guidance.

  • Support training standards, accreditations and the continued development of the consultancy's training services.

What you must have
  • NEBOSH General Certificate.

  • NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate, or the earlier NEBOSH Fire Safety and Risk Management Certificate.

  • A recognised teaching qualification, such as Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET), PTLLS, IOSH Train the Trainer or a higher equivalent.

  • TechIOSH membership or an appropriate equivalent level of professional health and safety membership.

  • Current, practical knowledge of health and safety and fire safety. You must be able to explain how you have kept this up to date through CPD and recent responsibilities, including relevant changes since Grenfell.

  • Experience personally delivering training to groups, whether in health and safety, fire safety or a closely related workplace subject, and the confidence to work with different audiences.

  • Ability to tailor training for clients, travel regularly into central London and visit client sites.

  • Experience in first aid training, or a willingness to work towards this as part of your development.

What would make you stand out
  • Recent delivery of health and safety and/or fire safety courses to external clients, including accredited IOSH or NEBOSH training.

  • Experience delivering online courses and improving training materials, particularly PowerPoint presentations.

  • Professional fire safety membership, such as IFSM or IFE, or higher IOSH membership such as CertIOSH or CMIOSH.

  • First Aid Instructor experience or NUCO accreditation.

  • Experience training teams in different environments, including property, facilities management, commercial buildings or construction.

What's on offer A £45,000 basic salary plus a £4,800 annual car allowance, hybrid working and varied client-facing training. Agreed travel and overnight expenses are supported. There is also scope for further professional development, including additional teaching and first aid instructor qualifications.

Interested? If you hold the essential qualifications and have real experience delivering training, we'd like to hear from you. Please apply with your CV and, if possible, include a brief outline of the courses you've personally delivered recently and how you've kept your fire safety knowledge up to date.
