Packaging Technologist

The opportunity

Are you passionate about packaging innovation, product development and finding smarter ways to bring products to market?

We’re working with an established business in the drinks industry that is looking to recruit a Packaging Technologist to support the development, improvement and optimisation of packaging across its product portfolio.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining technical knowledge with practical problem-solving, working closely with suppliers and internal teams to deliver packaging solutions that meet quality, commercial and operational requirements.

What you’ll be doing

• Managing packaging projects from initial concept and development through to launch.

• Supporting packaging innovation and continuous improvement across a varied product portfolio.

• Working with suppliers to identify new materials, technologies and packaging solutions.

• Coordinating packaging trials, testing and validation to ensure solutions are fit for purpose.

• Reviewing packaging performance, quality, cost and sustainability.

• Maintaining accurate packaging specifications and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards.

• Troubleshooting packaging issues and supporting effective resolutions.

• Collaborating with colleagues across NPD, Technical, Operations, Procurement and Marketing.

• Identifying opportunities for cost savings, value engineering and improved efficiency.

What we’re looking for

You’ll ideally have experience in a Packaging Technologist, Packaging Development or similar technical role within FMCG, food and drink, consumer goods or another packaging-intensive manufacturing environment.

You’ll bring:

• Knowledge of packaging materials, formats and manufacturing processes.

• Experience supporting packaging development projects, trials or product launches.

• An understanding of packaging specifications, quality requirements and regulatory compliance.

• The ability to work with suppliers and cross-functional teams.

• A practical, solutions-focused approach to technical challenges.

• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.
