Corporate Tax Manager
About this role
Corporate Tax Manager | Competitive salary + Bonus | Hybrid & Flexible Working
Watford, Hertfordshire | Open to candidates relocating from across the UK
Salary: competitive salary, with potential flexibility for an exceptional candidate.
Right to work: Applicants must already have full, unrestricted right to work in the UK. This position does not offer visa sponsorship, either now or in the future.
A fresh opportunity, whether you're local or considering a move.
If you're an experienced Corporate Tax professional who's open to a change of scenery, a better work-life balance or simply a more enjoyable working environment, this could be worth exploring.
I'm working with a highly regarded, independent accountancy practice that's looking to appoint a Corporate Tax Manager to its established tax team.
It's a successful, well-respected firm with a strong reputation, a varied client base and a refreshingly down-to-earth approach. They offer the technical variety and quality of work you'd expect from a sizeable practice, without necessarily the same pressures or rigid structure associated with some larger firms.
Importantly, they're open to candidates from further afield. Whether you're already within commuting distance of Watford, considering relocating to Hertfordshire or the surrounding areas, or looking for a role that offers greater flexibility around your working arrangements, I'd be keen to hear from you.
There's genuine flexibility here, and the firm is happy to have sensible conversations about what a workable arrangement might look like for the right person.
What would you be doing?
You'll take responsibility for an established portfolio of predominantly owner-managed businesses, combining hands-on corporate tax compliance with exposure to more interesting and technically challenging advisory work.
Your responsibilities will include:
-
Managing a varied portfolio of corporate tax clients, overseeing compliance requirements and ensuring deadlines are met.
-
Preparing and reviewing corporation tax returns and computations.
-
Developing strong relationships with business owners, providing practical and commercially sensible tax advice.
-
Identifying tax planning opportunities and supporting clients with their wider business needs.
-
Working alongside experienced tax specialists on advisory projects, including incorporations, business reconstructions, demergers, share schemes and EIS/SEIS.
-
Supporting and mentoring junior colleagues within a friendly, collaborative team.
You don't need to be an expert in every area of corporate tax advisory. If you've built a solid foundation in compliance and would welcome the opportunity to broaden your technical experience, there's plenty of scope to do so.
Who are we looking for?
You'll need to be CTA qualified, with relevant UK corporate tax experience gained within an accountancy practice.
You might already be a Corporate Tax Manager, or perhaps an experienced Assistant Manager who's ready for greater responsibility and a fresh challenge.
Ideally, you'll bring:
-
A strong understanding of UK corporation tax compliance.
-
Experience managing or supporting a portfolio of owner-managed businesses.
-
The confidence to build relationships and communicate directly with clients.
-
An interest in developing your advisory experience.
-
A collaborative, approachable attitude and willingness to support colleagues.
Above all, the firm values good people who take pride in their work, enjoy working with clients and want to be part of a supportive team.
Why consider this opportunity?
There's plenty to like about this position, particularly if you're looking for somewhere you can settle, develop and enjoy your work.
-
Competitive salary, with potential flexibility for an exceptional candidate.
-
Hybrid and flexible working, with arrangements open to discussion.
-
Open to candidates relocating from elsewhere in the UK, as well as those within commuting distance.
-
Annual Christmas bonus equivalent to one week's salary.
-
25 days' holiday plus bank holidays.
-
Private medical insurance.
-
5% employer pension contribution.
-
Life assurance at four times salary.
-
Group income protection.
-
An established, approachable team with experienced tax professionals to learn from.
-
A varied client portfolio and genuine opportunities to develop your advisory skills.
Thinking about relocating?
Watford offers a convenient base on the outskirts of London, with excellent transport connections, access to Hertfordshire's towns and countryside, and plenty of options for those looking to live outside central London.
You don't necessarily need to have made a decision about relocating before getting in touch. If the opportunity sounds interesting, I'm happy to discuss the role, location and working arrangements confidentially so you can decide whether it could work for you.
Interested in finding out more?
Whether you're actively looking, considering relocating or simply curious about what another practice could offer, I'd be very happy to have an informal conversation.
There's no expectation or pressure to make a move. Sometimes it's just worth exploring the possibilities.
