About this role
Physiotherapist (Paediatric, SEN School), Hackney, London
You will deliver long-term physiotherapy in a school, not short-term hospital caseloads. The school is an independent, charity-run special school in London. It teaches children and young people aged 2 to 19 with a wide range of needs. Please apply if you are a Physiotherapist (Paediatric, SEN School) with experience in schools with children and young people with special needs.
Benefits:
- Pay of £35-45 per hour (can be locum or permanent)
- A 6 to 12 month contract, with the chance to move into a permanent role if it suits both sides
- A full-time 35-hour week, shorter than the NHS 37.5 hours
- Term-time working, with occasional extra days in school holidays for reports or admin
- A close team of therapists, teachers and support staff
- Work based on site in Hackney, so check your commute before you apply
What you will do - Physiotherapist (Paediatric, SEN School)
- Assess children and young people with physical, developmental and learning needs.
- Write and review individual treatment plans focused on mobility, posture, motor skills and taking part in school life.
- Deliver therapy in classrooms, therapy rooms and other school spaces, and build your goals into the wider school programme.
- Train teachers, support staff and families in handling, positioning and equipment use.
- Work with speech and language therapists, teachers and other specialists, and write clear records and review reports.
What you bring
- A degree in Physiotherapy (or equivalent) and full professional registration, such as HCPC.
- 2 to 3 years of experience after qualifying.
- Substantial experience with children and young people with special educational needs, in a school or similar setting. Hospital orthopaedic work alone is not enough.
- Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team, and the ability to make your own clinical decisions.
- Commitment to stay for at least one academic year, so pupils get continuity of care.
