About this role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Bid Writer to join a well-established and highly regarded architectural practice based in Leeds City Centre.

Working within a collaborative and commercially focused environment, this role will see you play an important part in securing new projects, developing compelling tender submissions and supporting the continued success of a respected architectural business.

This opportunity would particularly suit an experienced Bid Writer with a background in architecture, construction, engineering or the wider built environment, although candidates from other professional services backgrounds with relevant bid writing experience will also be considered.

You will work closely with Directors, technical specialists, the Bid Coordinator and Marketing team to produce high-quality, persuasive and evidence-based submissions for new projects and framework appointments.

The Role

As Bid Writer, you will take responsibility for developing clear, engaging and commercially compelling written content that demonstrates the practice's expertise, experience and suitability for individual projects.

This is a varied position combining bid strategy, technical writing, research and collaboration with senior stakeholders.

Key responsibilities will include

  • Producing high-quality written responses for tenders, bids, proposals and framework submissions.
  • Reviewing tender documentation, evaluation criteria and client requirements to develop tailored responses.
  • Working closely with Directors, Architects and technical specialists to gather information and develop persuasive content.
  • Translating complex technical information into clear, engaging and commercially focused submissions.
  • Developing project case studies, methodology statements, team profiles and supporting documentation.
  • Preparing responses covering project delivery, quality, sustainability and social value.
  • Editing, proofreading and reviewing bid submissions to ensure accuracy, consistency and compliance.
  • Collaborating with the Bid Coordinator and Marketing team to ensure submissions are professionally presented and delivered within agreed deadlines.
  • Maintaining and developing a library of bid content, project information and supporting evidence.
  • Reviewing bid feedback and identifying opportunities to continually improve the quality and effectiveness of future submissions.

The Ideal Candidate

We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates who have previous experience producing successful bids and tenders within a technical or professional services environment.

You will ideally demonstrate:

  • Previous experience as a Bid Writer, Tender Writer, Proposal Writer or in a similar bid-focused position.
  • Experience within architecture, construction, engineering or professional services.
  • Excellent written communication, editing and proofreading skills.
  • The ability to interpret complex technical information and communicate it clearly and persuasively.
  • Experience responding to tender questions, selection questionnaires and framework submissions.
  • Strong research skills and an ability to identify relevant supporting evidence.
  • Confidence working alongside senior stakeholders and technical professionals.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
  • A meticulous approach to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with knowledge of Adobe InDesign or similar publishing software considered advantageous.

A relevant qualification in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing or a related discipline would be beneficial, although equivalent professional experience is equally welcome.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established architectural practice where the quality of bid submissions plays an important role in securing new commissions and supporting future business growth.

Rather than simply coordinating documentation, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the content, strategy and overall effectiveness of the practice's bids.

Working alongside experienced Directors and technical professionals, you will gain exposure to a diverse range of architectural projects and framework opportunities while developing your expertise within the built environment.

With a salary of £38,000 – £45,000, depending on experience plus market leading benefits & flexible hybrid working, this position offers an attractive opportunity for an accomplished Bid Writer looking to further their career within the architecture and construction sector.
