About this role

Step into a high-impact leadership role where you’ll take full ownership of a medium-sized nursing dementia home in East London, with the autonomy and support to drive real, measurable improvement. This is a permanent Registered Manager position offering £70–75k, ideal for a proven leader with a strong CQC track record and turnaround experience who wants to shape a high-quality, person-centred service. You’ll be joining a provider committed to clinical excellence, robust governance, and sustainable performance.

About the Role:
As Registered Manager, you will hold overall responsibility for the operational, clinical, and regulatory performance of a nursing dementia home, ensuring safe, effective, and compassionate care for all residents. You will lead and develop the staff team, embed strong clinical governance and quality assurance frameworks, and drive service improvement initiatives that enhance outcomes and CQC ratings. This role is central to stabilising and improving the home’s performance, with clear accountability for standards, culture, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
* Provide visible, day-to-day leadership of the nursing dementia home, setting clear expectations and maintaining a strong, positive culture focused on resident wellbeing and dignity.
* Manage and develop the staff team, including recruitment, induction, supervision, and performance management, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and skill mix.
* Oversee all aspects of regulatory compliance, ensuring the home consistently meets and exceeds CQC standards and other statutory requirements.
* Lead safeguarding practice within the home, ensuring robust risk assessments, incident management, and learning from events to prevent recurrence.
* Implement and maintain effective clinical governance and quality assurance systems, including audits, action plans, and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Monitor key performance indicators, produce regular reports, and take corrective action to address areas of underperformance or emerging risk.
* Drive turnaround and service improvement projects, stabilising operations and embedding sustainable processes and practices that enhance quality and efficiency.
* Build strong relationships with residents, families, external professionals, and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and collaborative working.

Key Requirements:
* Proven experience as a Registered Manager (or equivalent senior management role) within a care home, ideally with nursing and dementia provision.
* Demonstrable track record of achieving strong CQC outcomes and leading services through turnaround or improvement.
* Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience of managing multidisciplinary teams in a care setting.
* In-depth knowledge of regulatory frameworks, CQC standards, and relevant legislation for adult social care.
* Solid understanding of safeguarding, risk management, and incident handling within a residential or nursing environment.
* Experience of implementing clinical governance and quality assurance systems, including audits and service reviews.
* Confident in performance monitoring and reporting, with the ability to interpret data and act on findings.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to influence, negotiate, and build trust with staff, residents, families, and external partners.

Desirable Skills:
* Nursing background (RGN/RMN) with current or previous NMC registration.
* Experience specifically within nursing dementia homes or similar specialist dementia services.
* Previous responsibility for managing a medium-sized home, including budget oversight and resource planning.
* Experience of leading change management programmes and embedding new models of care or service delivery.
* Familiarity with digital care planning, electronic MAR systems, and other care-related IT tools.

Qualifications:
* Relevant health and social care management qualification (e.g. Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care or equivalent).
* Evidence of ongoing professional development in leadership, safeguarding, and quality improvement.
* Nursing qualification (RGN/RMN) is advantageous but not essential.
* Additional training or certifications in dementia care, clinical governance, or quality management are preferred.
