Paint Shop Supervisor
About this role
Paint Shop Supervisor – Manufacturing
Location: Sutton, Surrey (SM3)
Salary: £35K +, negotiable depending on experience
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
About the role
More Workers are recruiting for an experienced Supervisor to join the Paint Shop department of an established manufacturing business based in Sutton, Surrey.
This is a hands-on supervisory role within a busy manufacturing environment, where the main focus is on managing people, organising workloads and ensuring the team operates efficiently.
Whilst previous paint shop experience would be an advantage, it isn't essential. We're particularly interested in candidates who have successfully managed teams within manufacturing, production, engineering, assembly or similar operational environments.
The Paint Shop is a specialist environment, so we're looking for someone who is comfortable working in a practical, factory-based setting, is willing to learn the processes involved and, most importantly, knows how to get the best out of their team.
Key responsibilities
- Managing and motivating a team of permanent and temporary employees.
- Organising daily workloads, allocating tasks and monitoring progress against production schedules.
- Ensuring appropriate staffing levels to meet operational requirements.
- Monitoring productivity, quality and team performance.
- Managing attendance, performance and day-to-day personnel matters.
- Supporting employee training, development and performance reviews.
- Maintaining high standards of health, safety and housekeeping.
- Working closely with other departments to ensure production runs smoothly.
- Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
What we're looking for
We're looking for a confident, approachable Supervisor who enjoys managing people and can bring structure, organisation and accountability to a busy working environment.
Ideally, you'll have:
- Previous supervisory or team management experience within manufacturing, production, engineering, assembly or a similar hands-on environment.
- Experience managing permanent and temporary workers.
- Strong communication and people management skills.
- The confidence to address performance issues and have difficult conversations when needed.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage changing priorities.
- A practical, proactive approach to problem-solving.
- The ability to take ownership, make decisions and work collaboratively with other departments.
- A good understanding of workplace health and safety.
Experience within a paint shop, metal fabrication, production planning or lean manufacturing would be beneficial, but isn't essential.
The opportunity
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Supervisor who enjoys being involved in the day-to-day operation and takes pride in developing a well-organised, productive team.
You'll be joining an established manufacturing business where your people management skills and ability to lead a team will be just as important as your technical knowledge.
