About this role
Depot Manager
Tipton | £47,000 | 25 days' holiday + bank holidays | Monday to Friday
As Depot Manager, you'll be taking over a depot that's ticking along, but you'll quickly see where standards could be better.
There is a team of around 20, so you'll have the time and space to actually make those improvements rather than spending every day firefighting.
The team is made up of a Depot Yard Supervisor, Yard Operatives and Drivers.
They need a Depot Manager who will take ownership of the site.
Someone who notices when things aren't quite where they should be, whether that's standards in the yard, health and safety, organisation or simply making sure everyone knows what's expected of them.
You'll be visible.
You'll know your team, what's happening in the yard and what's going out with the drivers. If standards start slipping, you'll notice. If something isn't safe, you won't walk past it.
And if someone needs a conversation, you'll have it.
As Depot Manager, you won't have someone sitting next to you telling you what needs doing each day either.
You'll need to be self-driven enough to look around, see what needs improving and get on with it.
That doesn't mean you'll be left to it.
Your Operations Director has come through distribution himself and, although he won't be based at the Tipton depot, you'll have regular visits from him and the Mobile Operations Managers.
So you'll have support when you need it, without someone constantly looking over your shoulder.
You'll probably already be a Depot Manager, Warehouse Manager or Operations Manager within warehousing, distribution or logistics.
More importantly, you're someone who takes pride in how an operation looks and runs.
As Depot Manager, you'll have the opportunity to raise the standards, get some structure around the depot and create an operation you're happy to put your name to.
The depot operates between 6am and 6pm, Monday to Friday, and you'll work 50 hours across those operating hours, with no regular weekend working.
You'll get £47,000, 25 days' holiday plus bank holidays and plenty of autonomy to run the depot properly.
If you're reading this thinking that sounds like the kind of Depot Manager you are, let's have a conversation.
This role is exclusive to Marshall Harmony - you won't be contacted by any third parties. If you'd like more info or want to talk it through, just drop us a message, tag someone who'd be perfect for this below or send your CV to the email above.
