Salary: £70,000–£80,000 per annum, depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor (Senior QS) to join a growing team working on major data centre projects.

Previous data centre experience is essential for this position. We are looking for a commercially astute professional with a strong understanding of the complexities of data centre construction, including cost control, subcontractor management, procurement and contractual negotiations.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior QS to take a leading role in delivering complex, high-value projects within the fast-growing data centre sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for the commercial management of data centre construction projects from pre-construction through to final account.

• Manage project costs, budgets, forecasts and cash flow.

• Prepare and review cost plans, estimates, valuations and financial reports.

• Manage subcontractor procurement, tendering, negotiations and appointments.

• Review subcontractor applications for payment and assess variations and change orders.

• Monitor project expenditure, identify commercial risks and implement mitigation strategies.

• Prepare, submit and agree variations, interim valuations and final accounts.

• Manage contractual correspondence and support the resolution of commercial disputes.

• Work closely with project managers, site teams, clients and other commercial stakeholders.

• Ensure commercial procedures and reporting requirements are followed throughout the project lifecycle.

• Identify opportunities to improve project profitability and commercial performance.

About You

• Proven experience working as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.

• Essential: previous experience working on data centre projects.

• Strong knowledge of commercial management, cost control, procurement and subcontractor management.

• Experience managing high-value, complex construction projects.

• Good understanding of construction contracts, including NEC and/or JCT.

• Strong negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

• Commercially aware, highly organised and detail-oriented.

• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management.

• RICS membership or progress towards professional accreditation would be advantageous.
