We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and committed Teacher to work in a specialist Social, Emotional and Mental Health school in Wallsend, supporting primary and secondary-aged pupils who may face additional barriers to learning.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who can create a positive, nurturing and structured learning environment, helping pupils develop academically, socially and emotionally while building the confidence and skills they need to succeed.

The Role
As an SEMH Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils across primary and secondary age groups.
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering creative, engaging lessons tailored to pupils' individual learning needs.

  • Creating a safe, inclusive and structured classroom environment where pupils feel supported and valued.
  • Developing positive relationships with pupils to encourage engagement, trust and mutual respect.
  • Implementing effective behaviour management strategies and promoting positive behaviour.
  • Monitoring pupil progress and adapting teaching approaches to support individual development.
  • Working collaboratively with teaching assistants, senior leaders, parents and other professionals.
  • Supporting pupils' academic progress alongside their emotional wellbeing, confidence and independence.

The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a teacher who:

  • Has Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Has experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, or is keen to develop their experience in a specialist setting.
  • Demonstrates patience, empathy, resilience and a flexible approach to teaching.
  • Has strong behaviour management and classroom leadership skills.
  • Can adapt their teaching style to support pupils with a range of abilities and additional needs.
  • Is passionate about inclusive education and helping pupils reach their full potential.
  • Can build positive, trusting relationships and motivate pupils who may have experienced challenges in mainstream education.

Experience within an SEMH, SEND, PRU or alternative provision setting would be advantageous. Applications from teachers with mainstream experience who are passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs are also welcomed.
What's on Offer?

  • A rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference to pupils' lives.
  • The chance to work within a specialist SEMH setting.
  • Opportunities to develop your skills and experience in SEND and alternative education.
  • A supportive team environment focused on pupil wellbeing and achievement.
  • Competitive pay, dependent on experience.
