Warehouse Manager
About this role
Warehouse Manager
West Northamptonshire
£38,000–£46,000 DOE
Permanent, Full-Time
Rise10 Recruitment are working with a well-established business to recruit a hands-on Warehouse Manager to take ownership of its new warehouse operation.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced warehouse professional to help build an operation from the ground up, developing the team, putting effective processes in place and ensuring the warehouse runs smoothly as the business grows.
We're looking for someone who enjoys being on the warehouse floor, leading by example and getting involved in the day-to-day running of the operation, rather than managing purely from a desk.
You'll play a key role in establishing and developing the new warehouse, taking responsibility for operational performance, stock accuracy, team development and continuous improvement.
Working closely with the Head of Operations, you'll have the opportunity to shape how the warehouse operates, introduce clear procedures and build a team that takes pride in maintaining high standards.
Responsibilities:
- Warehouse set-up: Help establish the warehouse layout, optimise product flow and storage space, and develop clear standard operating procedures across all warehouse areas, including the samples department.
- Day-to-day operations: Oversee goods-in, quality control, stock management, order fulfilment, samples and dispatch, ensuring orders are processed accurately and on time.
- Stock control: Maintain accurate inventory records, oversee stocktakes and cycle counts, investigate discrepancies, and ensure fabric rolls are correctly measured, labelled and located.
- Team leadership: Supervise, train and develop the warehouse team, supporting recruitment as the operation grows and creating a positive, accountable working environment.
- Health and safety: Maintain safe working practices across the warehouse, including manual handling, forklift operations, storage and equipment use. Carry out routine safety checks and support risk assessments and incident investigations.
- Continuous improvement: Monitor warehouse performance, identify opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy, and implement practical solutions to operational challenges.
- Stakeholder management: Work closely with internal departments and external contacts, including customers where appropriate, to resolve issues and maintain a smooth flow of operations.
About You:
You'll be an experienced warehouse leader who can combine strong organisational skills with a practical, sleeves-rolled-up approach. You'll be comfortable taking ownership, setting standards and supporting your team on the warehouse floor.
We're particularly interested in people who have experience of setting up, improving or developing warehouse operations and who enjoy finding better ways of working.
- Previous experience as a Warehouse Manager, Head of Warehouse or in a similar warehouse leadership position.
- Strong practical warehouse experience and a track record of leading and developing teams.
- Experience implementing or improving warehouse processes and procedures.
- Good knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control.
- A sound understanding of warehouse health and safety requirements.
- Excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to prioritise workloads and maintain accuracy in a busy operational environment.
- A proactive approach, with the confidence to make decisions and resolve day-to-day issues.
Desirable:
- Experience operating articulated, pivot-steer forklifts, such as Bendi or Flexi, ideally with a valid P1 training certificate.
- Experience in the fabric, textile or fashion industry.
- IOSH or NEBOSH health and safety certification.
- Experience implementing or working with ERP systems.
Monday to Thursday, 9:00am–5:30pm; Friday, 9:00am–3:30pm in winter and 9:00am–4:30pm in summer.
This role would suit someone who wants to build and improve an operation rather than simply inherit one. You'll have the opportunity to introduce structure, develop people and establish strong warehouse processes within a long-established business that continues to evolve.
If you're an experienced warehouse professional who enjoys taking ownership, leading from the front and making things work better, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today!
