Learning Support Assistant (BSL Qualified) - Hearing Impairment Provision

Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs? Do you have Level 2 or Level 3 British Sign Language (BSL) and experience working within SEN settings?

We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist Hearing Impairment Provision within a welcoming East London school.

The Role

You will be supporting pupils with hearing impairments both in the classroom and on a 1:1 basis, helping them access learning, develop communication skills, and reach their full potential.

Requirements

✅ Level 2 or Level 3 British Sign Language (BSL) qualification (essential)
✅ Previous SEN experience within a school, college, or specialist setting
✅ Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to obtain one)
✅ Strong communication and interpersonal skills
✅ Patient, nurturing, and adaptable approach
✅ Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team

Responsibilities

• Supporting students with hearing impairments in lessons and around the school
• Using BSL to facilitate communication and engagement
• Assisting with learning activities and educational targets
• Promoting independence, confidence, and social development
• Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, speech and language therapists, and other professionals
• Ensuring students receive the highest level of support and care
