Regional SHE Manager – Safety, Health & Environment

Up to £55,000 + Car/Car Allowance

We are seeking a Regional SHE Manager to bring their experience and expertise to DX and make a meaningful impact across our operations.

The successful candidate will have hands-on experience supporting multiple sites within a regional remit. With our operations running 24/7, flexibility is essential, alongside the ability to engage colleagues, provide coaching and lead change across the business.

A background in logistics or a similarly demanding industry is preferred, together with experience working across multiple sites and a willingness to travel regularly

About DX

DX provides specialist parcel, freight, secure, courier and logistics services to business and residential addresses across the UK and Ireland. Across our three divisions—DX Freight, DX Express and DX Logistics—we support a wide range of delivery requirements.

The role:

As the primary SHE contact for your region, you will help operational teams improve performance, reduce risk and maintain compliance with applicable legislation, company policies and management systems. You will support the implementation and continual improvement of the Group SHE Management System and its governance arrangements, working closely with managers, colleagues, contractors and the wider SHE team.

What you’ll do

·Provide practical SHE advice and coach operational managers to strengthen leadership, accountability and ownership of risk.

·Provide assurance to the SHE Director and operational leaders on regional compliance, risk management and SHE performance.

·Support compliance with applicable UK and Republic of Ireland health, safety and environmental legislation, acting as a designated Competent Person under Regulation 7 of the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 and Section 18 of the Safety, Health, and Welfare at Work Act 2005 in the Republic of Ireland.

·Plan and deliver audits, inspections and assurance activities, monitoring compliance with Group standards and following through on corrective actions.

·Investigate incidents and near misses, identify root causes and track corrective and preventive actions.

·Analyse SHE performance data to identify trends, prioritise risks and highlight opportunities for improvement.

·Support environmental permit compliance, pollution prevention, waste management and sustainability initiatives.

·Help maintain legal, hazard and environmental aspects and impacts registers, and develop, review and communicate SHE policies, standards and guidance.

·Work with Regional SHE Managers and Advisors to promote consistent risk controls, and with the SHE Training Manager to deliver awareness, training and engagement initiatives.

·Support engagement with enforcing authorities, customers, insurers and external auditors, visiting company, contractor and customer locations as required.

What you’ll bring

·A Level 6 occupational health and safety qualification or equivalent, such as a NEBOSH Diploma, NVQ Level 6 or degree in a relevant discipline.

·Chartered Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH), or Graduate Membership with active progression towards Chartered Membership.

·Experience providing SHE support across a multi-site operational environment.

·Demonstrable experience in risk assessment, risk control, compliance management, incident investigation and root cause analysis.

·Knowledge of UK and Irish health and safety legislation and management system standards.

·Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence operational managers at all levels.

·A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly throughout your assigned region.

·A practical, solutions-focused approach, sound judgement and professional integrity.

·The organisation and attention to detail to manage competing priorities, work independently and contribute to a wider SHE team.

·The ability to build effective relationships and handle confidential information with discretion.

Desirable experience and qualifications

·Experience in logistics, transportation, distribution, rail, ports or another operationally intensive industry.

·AISEP (formerly AIEMA), Practitioner Membership (PISEP) or an equivalent environmental qualification.

·Knowledge of environmental management principles and sustainability practices.

·Experience of behavioural safety, human factors and organisational culture improvement programmes.

Travel and working hours

Regular travel across your assigned region is essential. DX operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with significant evening and overnight activity. You will need flexibility to work outside normal office hours regularly to support operations, provide SHE guidance and respond to incidents when required.
