General Operative (Street Cleansing) - Temporary | Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council

£13.69 per hour (PAYE)

37 hours per week

Hatched Recruitment Group is recruiting a General Operative to join Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council's Waste Management & Operations team, based at the Blaris depot. You'll help keep streets and public spaces across the council area clean, safe and tidy.

What you'll be doing:

• Street sweeping and litter picking in town centres, residential areas and open spaces
• Emptying litter bins and clearing fly-tipping and waste
• Supporting mechanical sweepers and street cleansing crews
• Using equipment safely, such as brushes, shovels, leaf blowers and power washers
• Helping with seasonal work such as leaf clearance and winter gritting
• Wearing the correct PPE and following safe working practices
• Reporting problems such as damaged bins, vandalism or hazards

What you'll need:

• Experience of general operative, labouring, cleansing, refuse or other outdoor manual work
• Good health and safety awareness, including correct use of PPE and safe manual handling
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• A reliable, hardworking approach and the ability to work as part of a team
• A polite, helpful manner when dealing with the public

A driving licence would be an advantage.
