The role

Based at the Youth Club, you will lead inclusive youth services for young people aged 8–21, extending to 25 for those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). You will support young carers and young people with complex needs through informal education and the Young-Thrive model.

  • Lead youth club sessions, youth centre activities and adventure playground provision.
  • Supervise Youth Workers, Assistant Youth Workers and volunteers.
  • Co-produce youth programmes that promote youth voice, participation and social action.
  • Deliver detached youth work, digital youth work and targeted support.
  • Apply safeguarding procedures, manage risks and contribute to assessments and support plans.
  • Work with statutory and voluntary sector partners to support joined-up services.
  • Record sessions on Group Work and use outcome data to improve delivery.
  • Support staff, budget and resource management.
What you’ll bring
  • A relevant professional qualification, such as a JNC-recognised Youth Work qualification, Social Work, Probation or equivalent.
  • Experience working with young people aged 11–25 in informal or non-formal settings.
  • Experience leading youth-focused services, supervising staff and supporting quality improvement.
  • Safeguarding leadership experience and confidence managing complex cases and professional boundaries.
  • Strong risk assessment, communication and partnership-working skills.
  • An inclusive, creative approach that puts young people at the centre of service planning.
  • Evidence of ongoing development in leadership, safeguarding and youth practice.
Working arrangements

The brief specifies 22 hours per week (0.6 FTE), with two days on-site and the remaining time remote or at other Youth Service units. Current working days are Monday and Friday, including unsociable hours. Flexibility is required for evenings, weekends, short-notice youth club call-outs, and travel between service locations.
