Position: Graduate / Junior Quality Technician

Salary: £26,000 - £32,000 per annum, depending on experience

Location: Mildenhall, Suffolk

Graduate / Junior Quality Technician required. Our client is seeking a motivated and technically minded individual to join their quality team, offering an excellent opportunity for a graduate or junior-level candidate to develop their skills within a specialist engineering and manufacturing environment.

This role would suit a recent engineering graduate, or an individual with an NVQ or college-level engineering qualification, who is looking to develop a long-term career in quality engineering. Working closely with the Quality Manager and wider Production and Engineering teams, the successful candidate will receive the opportunity to develop their technical knowledge across inspection, testing, quality assurance and continuous improvement.

Graduate / Junior Quality Technician Position Overview

• Reviewing supplier certificates of conformity and supporting the release or quarantine of materials in accordance with quality requirements.
• Carrying out visual, dimensional and physical inspections of raw materials, in-process components and finished products using precision measuring equipment, including callipers, micrometres and gauges.
• Creating, maintaining and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Visual Aid Documents (VADs) and technical data sheets.
• Identifying, documenting and reporting non-conforming materials, supporting containment activities and helping coordinate corrective actions.
• Supporting root cause analysis and Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) to investigate quality issues and prevent recurrence.
• Conducting internal process, product and housekeeping audits, including 5S audits, to ensure compliance with company procedures.
• Supporting internal and external audits, including preparation, documentation and follow-up activities.
• Maintaining calibration records for Measurement and Test Equipment (M&TE), ensuring instruments remain calibrated, traceable and compliant with requirements.
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean, Six Sigma and Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) activities.
• Assisting with New Product Introduction (NPI), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and Initial Sample Inspection Report (ISIR) activities.

Graduate / Junior Quality Technician Position Requirements

• A degree, HNC, HND, NVQ or college-level qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality or a related technical discipline.
• A basic understanding of engineering drawings, dimensional inspection and precision measurement would be advantageous.
• Previous experience in a quality or manufacturing environment would be beneficial but is not essential.
• An interest in quality control, manufacturing processes, inspection techniques and continuous improvement.
• A proactive attitude, willingness to learn and enthusiasm for developing technical skills through on-the-job training.
• Based within a commutable distance of Mildenhall, Suffolk

Graduate / Junior Quality Technician Position Remuneration

• Salary: £26,000 - £32,000 per annum, depending on experience.
• Full-time, permanent position. Monday to Friday 08:00 - 16:00.
