About this role

Hyreus is currently recruiting an experienced Safety Manager for an exciting opportunity based in Dublin with an international manufacturer operating within the HVAC, cooling and critical infrastructure sectors. This is an EMEA-focused role with responsibility for supporting and maintaining high standards of environmental, health and safety (EHS) across projects, service operations and contractor activities throughout Europe.

Reporting into the wider business, the successful candidate will work closely with engineering, project management, service and operational teams to promote a proactive safety culture, ensure regulatory compliance and drive continuous improvement. The role will involve regular European travel, including approximately two to three trips per month to data centre sites, providing an excellent opportunity for an experienced safety professional to make a significant impact across a range of technical and mission-critical environments.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and maintain EHS policies, procedures and management systems in line with applicable Irish and European legislation.

  • Support compliance with relevant health and safety legislation, industry standards and management systems, including ISO 45001 and, where applicable, ISO 14001.

  • Conduct site audits, safety inspections, risk assessments and compliance reviews across projects and service operations.

  • Review risk assessments and method statements (RAMS), permit-to-work procedures and lockout/tagout (LOTO) arrangements.

  • Provide practical EHS guidance to project managers, engineers, service teams, subcontractors and other stakeholders.

  • Promote a positive safety culture through inductions, toolbox talks, training sessions and ongoing safety communications.

  • Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing appropriate corrective and preventative actions.

  • Monitor EHS performance, maintain accurate records and prepare reports, statistics and updates for management.

  • Identify potential hazards and operational risks, recommending measures to reduce exposure and improve workplace safety.

  • Support the management of contractor safety, ensuring external parties comply with relevant procedures and site requirements.

  • Assist with emergency response planning, occupational health requirements and the management of hazardous materials and construction waste.

  • Monitor corrective actions arising from audits, inspections and investigations to ensure timely completion.

  • Collaborate with international teams to share best practice and drive consistent EHS standards across the EMEA region.

  • Undertake regular travel to European project sites, including data centre and critical infrastructure environments.

The Ideal Candidate

  • A minimum of five years' experience in a Health & Safety or Environmental, Health & Safety role within construction, engineering, facilities management or a similar technical environment.

  • A relevant degree or qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, Construction Safety or a related discipline.

  • NEBOSH National Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or an equivalent recognised qualification.

  • Strong knowledge of Irish health and safety legislation and relevant European regulatory requirements.

  • Experience conducting audits, inspections, risk assessments, incident investigations and EHS compliance reviews.

  • A good understanding of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.

  • Experience working with contractors, engineering teams and operational stakeholders across multiple sites.

  • Previous experience in data centres, HVAC, cooling systems, mechanical engineering or other mission-critical environments would be highly advantageous.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence safe working practices at all levels.

  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities across different locations.

  • Confidence preparing reports, maintaining EHS documentation and presenting safety performance information to management.
