About this role

I’m currently working with a leading construction contractor who are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Planner to join their growing pre-construction team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Planner who wants to play a key role in winning work, developing strategy and influencing projects from the earliest stages.

Their pre-construction team is where projects are won — developing the strategy, understanding the risks and creating robust programmes and methodologies that give them a competitive edge.

The Role

As Senior Planner, you’ll take a leading role in the planning and programming of tenders and pre-construction projects, working closely with bid, commercial, operations and supply chain teams.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Producing and managing tender, contract and construction programmes

  • Developing build strategies, sequencing plans and critical path programmes

  • Reviewing tender documents and identifying risks, opportunities and project constraints

  • Preparing preliminaries, logistics plans and construction methodologies

  • Working collaboratively with bid, operations and supply chain teams to develop winning submissions

  • Producing high-quality tender responses, including programme and methodology content

  • Supporting project teams with programme monitoring and reporting during delivery

  • Contributing to risk management, health & safety and sustainable construction planning

About You

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Proven experience in construction planning and programming

  • Strong knowledge of Asta Powerproject, Microsoft Project or similar

  • A good understanding of construction methods, contracts and procurement

  • Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills

  • Strong attention to detail and commercial awareness

  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams

  • A full UK driving licence

Desirable:

  • Degree qualification in a construction-related discipline

  • Experience working on large-scale construction projects

  • Civils and drainage experience

  • Knowledge of modern construction techniques and industry best practice

Why Consider It?

This role offers the opportunity to get involved early in the project lifecycle and have a genuine influence on how projects are planned, priced and ultimately delivered.

You’ll work across a diverse portfolio of projects ranging from £250k to £40m, covering sectors including:

  • Commercial

  • Industrial

  • Residential

  • Public buildings

You’ll be joining a collaborative, forward-thinking team where your planning expertise will be valued and where you can continue to develop your career.
