The Role
Are you a Heavy Commercial or Supermarket Refrigeration Engineer looking to move into industrial refrigeration?
This is an opportunity to take your existing refrigeration experience into a different environment, working on larger systems across food manufacturing facilities, cold stores, warehouses and distribution centres throughout Manchester, Liverpool and the surrounding North West.
You don't need to have worked exclusively in industrial refrigeration. Engineers with a strong supermarket or heavy commercial background are encouraged to apply, with training and development available to help you build your experience with industrial plant.
You'll carry out planned maintenance, servicing and reactive breakdown repairs across a varied customer base, developing your technical skills while working on refrigeration systems that are critical to day-to-day operations.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), servicing and reactive breakdown repairs across customer sites.
Diagnose faults and complete repairs on refrigeration systems and associated plant.
Work on industrial refrigeration installations using CO?, ammonia, DX and HFC/HFO refrigerants, depending on the equipment and your experience.
Maintain and repair compressors, central refrigeration packs and associated refrigeration plant.
Work with reciprocating, scroll and screw compressor systems.
Identify faults, establish root causes and minimise equipment downtime.
Support refrigeration systems serving food production, cold storage and distribution operations.
Complete service reports and maintain accurate records of work carried out.
Follow site-specific health and safety procedures and relevant refrigeration compliance requirements.
What's on Offer
Salary up to £48,000, depending on experience.
Door-to-door pay.
Overtime paid at 1.5x and 2.0x.
40-hour working week.
Standby rota of 1 in 5 weeks, with a £200 standby payment.
Company van with private use.
25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays.
Health cash plan.

Company pension scheme.
Option to buy and sell annual leave.

Cycle to work scheme and employee discounts.
Ongoing technical training and career development.
What You'll Need
Experience working as a Refrigeration Engineer in a supermarket, heavy commercial or industrial environment.
A recognised refrigeration qualification or relevant apprenticeship.
F-Gas Category 1 qualification, such as City & Guilds 2079.
Strong refrigeration fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
A full UK driving licence.
A professional approach to customer service, health and safety, and service reporting.
Moving into Industrial Refrigeration
Industrial refrigeration experience would be beneficial, particularly within food manufacturing, cold storage or distribution. Knowledge of ammonia or CO? systems, large central plant and industrial compressor equipment would also be an advantage.
Experience with manufacturers such as Grasso, Sabroe, J&E Hall, GEA or Mycom is useful, alongside relevant industrial refrigeration or ammonia qualifications.
However, you can still be considered if your experience is mainly in supermarket or heavy commercial refrigeration. If you're confident fault-finding on larger systems and want to develop your skills in an industrial environment, this role offers a route to make that move.
About the Business
The role supports major food manufacturing and distribution operations where reliable refrigeration is essential to production, storage and the movement of goods. You'll work across a range of sites, gaining exposure to industrial refrigeration applications while building on your existing experience.
