About this role

SMALL WORKS MANAGER

Location: Droitwich
Salary: £30,000–£45,000 per annum
Project values: £500–£10,000

Fast-paced. Hands- on. You're in control.

This isn't a quiet desk job. Your day is fast, reactive and relentless. Hotels, hospitals and restaurants can't simply close while work gets done. You'll be managing jobs worth £500 to £10,000, often overnight,

early in the morning or at weekends. Plans change, materials need chasing, installers need organising, and customers expect answers now.

You need to think fast, stay organised and take ownership.

You'll run the small works operation from start to finish. From handling enquiries and pricing jobs to ordering materials, scheduling installers, managing delivery and raising invoices, you'll own every stage.

Project Managers manage the projects themselves. You make sure small works runs smoothly, efficiently and profitably.

What you'll be doing

  • Own every job: Manage enquiries and instructions from receipt through to completion, handling individual jobs valued between £500 and £10,000.
  • Price the work: Prepare your own quotations, calculate costs and make sure the numbers add up.
  • Get every detail right: Set up new jobs in the CRM, ensuring all the information is in place before work is scheduled.
  • Get materials where they need to be: Order supplies and make sure they arrive at the right place, at the right time.
  • Keep everyone moving: Schedule installers and subcontractors, coordinating short-notice, reactive and out-of-hours work.
  • Keep customers informed: Act as the main point of contact, providing clear updates and dealing with problems quickly.
  • Control variations: Record changes to the work and secure internal approval before additional work goes ahead.
  • Get invoices raised: Work with Finance to invoice completed jobs and approved variations accurately and promptly.
  • Keep standards high: Maintain accurate CRM records, monitor performance and find better ways to run the operation.

What you'll bring

You don't need to come from a flooring background. What matters is your attitude, your organisation and your ability to deliver when the pressure is on.

  • You'll take ownership, follow things through and get the job done.
  • You'll stay organised and pay attention to the details that others might miss.
  • You'll juggle multiple jobs, changing priorities and tight deadlines without losing control.
  • You'll communicate confidently with customers, installers, subcontractors and colleagues.
  • You'll be comfortable using CRM systems, computers and everyday business software.
  • You'll have a good head for numbers and feel confident pricing work, ordering materials and handling invoicing.
  • You'll understand that some jobs can't wait until Monday morning and be flexible when out-of-hours cover is needed.

Experience in construction, flooring, facilities management or a similar environment is a bonus. Experience in scheduling, operations, procurement, quoting, contract administration or coordinating field-based teams will also help you hit the ground running.

The reality of the role

Your normal office hours are 08:00–17:00, Monday to Friday. But your responsibility doesn't always stop at five.

When work runs overnight, starts early or takes place at weekends, you'll make sure the right people are in place and the job is covered. You'll need to be responsive, adaptable and ready to step in when it matters.

It's demanding. It's hands-on. And it's not for everyone.

But if you thrive under pressure, enjoy solving problems and want to see the direct impact of your decisions, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference.

What you'll get in return

£30,000–£45,000 salary, depending on your experience.

20 days' annual leave plus bank holidays.

Your birthday off, paid.

Pension with a 4% employer contribution.

Death-in-service cover worth four times your salary.

Income protection after six months.

Monthly team bonus of 2–5% through the Grand Plan, from day one.

Ongoing training and development.

A genuine opportunity to progress into broader operations and senior management.

Ready to take ownership?

If you're looking for a role where you can take responsibility, make decisions and prove what you're capable of, this is your opportunity.

You'll manage a varied workload of small works projects worth £500–£10,000, build your operational experience and develop your career towards senior leadership.

Take control. Keep things moving. Deliver results.

If you've got the drive, organisation and determination to make small works a success, it's time to step up.
