Graduate Teaching Assistants / Primary Teaching Assistants - Didsbury

Location: Didsbury, South Manchester
Contract: Full-time, Monday to Friday, term time only
Duration: Long-term, ongoing for the academic year

Are you a Psychology graduate, aspiring teacher or experienced Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding role within a supportive Primary School?

Aspire People are recruiting Graduate Teaching Assistants and experienced TAs to work within a large, well-established mainstream Primary School in Didsbury, South Manchester.

Part of a local Multi-Academy Trust, the school benefits from a multi-form entry structure, experienced teaching staff and a strong support team. With some classes having higher levels of SEND and additional barriers to learning, we are looking for enthusiastic, resilient individuals who can build positive relationships with pupils and support their learning, confidence and development.

These roles are particularly suited to Psychology, Education, Childhood Studies and related graduates, including those considering a PGCE or teacher training in September 2027, alongside experienced Teaching Assistants seeking a consistent, long-term opportunity.

The Role

Supporting pupils across EYFS, KS1 or KS2, depending on experience and school requirements.

Providing 1:1 and small-group support for children with additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH and speech and language difficulties.

Supporting classroom learning, helping pupils engage with lessons and overcome barriers to progress.

Encouraging positive behaviour, emotional regulation, confidence and independence.

Delivering targeted support in phonics, reading, writing and maths to help close attainment gaps.

Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and wider support staff to provide consistent support for pupils.

What We're Looking For

Graduates in Psychology, Education, Childhood Studies, Criminology or similar subjects, or experienced Primary Teaching Assistants.

Previous experience working with children or young people, whether in schools, youth work, mentoring, care, sports coaching or voluntary settings.

An interest in SEND, inclusion and supporting children with additional learning or emotional needs.

A patient, adaptable and proactive approach, with strong communication skills.

Commitment to working full-time, Monday to Friday, on a long-term basis.

Why Apply?

Long-term opportunities within an established Didsbury Primary School, typically for the remainder of the academic year.

Supportive working environment with experienced teaching teams and established SEND provision.

Ideal preparation for teacher training, offering valuable classroom experience ahead of a PGCE or other education-related career.

Opportunities to develop experience across the primary curriculum, SEND and behaviour support.

Dedicated support from a specialist Aspire People consultant.

Access to Aspire People's referral scheme and other local school opportunities.
