Management Accountant, Kirby Muxloe - up to £65,000

The Opportunity

We are working in partnership with an established and highly recognisable UK retail business to recruit an experienced Management Accountant to join its finance team based in Leicestershire.

Operating across an extensive nationwide store network, our client offers a fast-paced, commercially focused environment where finance plays an important role in supporting business performance and operational decision-making.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded Management Accountant who enjoys working beyond the numbers, building relationships with stakeholders and providing meaningful financial insight.

Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, you will take ownership of management reporting for designated areas of the business while supporting budgeting, forecasting and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

● Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.

● Produce detailed variance analysis against budgets and forecasts, providing clear commentary on financial performance.

● Support the preparation of annual budgets, periodic forecasts and management reporting packs.

● Work closely with operational teams and budget holders to provide commercial insight and challenge financial performance.

● Monitor and analyse key business performance indicators, including margins, costs and stock-related performance.

● Provide financial analysis and scenario modelling to support business decisions.

● Assist with year-end audit requirements, statutory reporting and financial controls.

● Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, financial accuracy and operational efficiency.

● Provide support and guidance to junior finance colleagues where required.

About You

We are looking for a confident and proactive finance professional who combines strong technical accounting skills with a commercial mindset.

The ideal candidate will have:

● ACCA, CIMA or ACA qualification, although candidates qualified by experience with a strong track record will also be considered.

● Previous experience in a Management Accountant or finance business partnering position.

● Strong management reporting, budgeting and forecasting experience.

● Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large volumes of financial data.

● Experience using accounting or ERP systems.

● Excellent analytical skills and the ability to translate financial information into meaningful commercial insight.

● Strong communication skills and the confidence to engage with stakeholders across the business.

● A proactive approach, excellent attention to detail and the ability to work to demanding deadlines.

Experience within retail, FMCG, wholesale or a multi-site business would be particularly advantageous, although candidates from other commercially focused environments are encouraged to apply.
