About the role and school

Teach Plus are working with a specialist school in Waltham Forest that is looking to appoint a dedicated SEN Teacher to join its team from January 2027.

This is an excellent opportunity for a committed teacher who is passionate about supporting pupils with special educational needs and helping them achieve their individual potential.

The successful candidate will be able to adapt teaching to meet a range of learning needs, deliver personalised learning opportunities and create a structured, nurturing classroom environment. You will work closely with Teaching Assistants and other professionals to support pupils' academic progress, communication, independence and personal development.

Job Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver differentiated lessons tailored to pupils' individual needs

• Adapt learning activities, resources and teaching approaches

• Support pupils' communication, social development and independence

• Establish clear routines and maintain a positive learning environment

• Promote engagement and encourage pupils to achieve their individual targets

• Monitor progress and contribute to personalised learning plans

• Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants and the wider school team

• Use positive behaviour management strategies

• Communicate effectively with colleagues and families where appropriate

Qualifications/Experience

• QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification is essential

• Experience teaching pupils with SEN is desirable

• Understanding of differentiated teaching and additional learning needs

• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills

• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues

• A patient, resilient and nurturing approach

• Passion for inclusive education and supporting pupil development
