Empowering Learning is recruiting on behalf of a well-regarded secondary school in Redbridge for an experienced and driven Head of Economics and Business to join their team in January 2027. This is a fantastic opportunity for a talented teacher who is ready to lead a department, shape curriculum and make a real impact on student outcomes.

The Role

This is a genuine leadership position - not just a title. The school is looking for someone who can take ownership of the Economics and Business department, drive standards and inspire both students and colleagues. You will have the support of a committed SLT and a school that values its staff and invests in their development.

• Lead and manage the Economics and Business department, setting the vision and direction for teaching and learning
• Deliver high-quality lessons across GCSE Business and A-Level Economics and Business
• Develop and review schemes of work, assessment strategies and curriculum planning
• Monitor and analyse student progress data, implementing intervention where needed
• Line manage, support and develop colleagues within the department
• Contribute to whole-school initiatives, CPD and wider school improvement
• Build strong relationships with students, staff, parents and the wider school community

What We Are Looking For

• Qualified Teacher Status - essential
• A strong Economics and/or Business subject specialist with proven classroom results
• Experience in a middle or senior leadership role - or a teacher who is genuinely ready to make that step
• Confident delivering at both GCSE and A-Level
• Ambitious, driven and passionate about raising standards and developing a department
• Excellent communication, organisation and people management skills
• Enhanced DBS or willingness to apply
