Trading Standards Officer

A North West Local Authority is seeking an experienced Trading Standards Officer to join their team on an interim basis.

This is an excellent opportunity to support a busy and collaborative service, undertaking a varied caseload across a range of Trading Standards functions, including consumer protection, fair trading, product safety, underage sales, and business compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver frontline Trading Standards enforcement and advisory work.
• Investigate complaints and undertake compliance visits.
• Conduct inspections, investigations and enforcement activities in accordance with relevant legislation.
• Prepare reports, witness statements and enforcement documentation where required.
• Provide advice and guidance to local businesses and members of the public.

Requirements:

• Previous experience working within a Local Authority Trading Standards service.
• Trading Standards qualification (DCATS/DTS or equivalent).
• Proven experience handling a broad range of Trading Standards matters.
• Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and enforcement procedures.
• Ability to work independently and manage a diverse caseload.

Desirable:

• Animal Feed qualification and experience would be highly desirable and considered a significant advantage.
