About this role

Some children need more than support. They need someone who believes in them, understands them, and stays consistent when things feel challenging.

Protocol Education is working closely with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in the BS5 area to recruit a dedicated Behaviour Specialist SEN Support Assistant for a November 2026 start.

This is a highly rewarding 1:1 role supporting a pupil with significant behavioural, emotional, and additional learning needs. The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping a child feel safe, understood, and able to engage positively with school life.

We're looking for someone who can bring patience, resilience, and a calm approach to every interaction. Someone who understands that behaviour is communication and recognises that some of the most important progress happens outside of academic outcomes.

Whether it's helping a child successfully transition between activities, regulate their emotions, build confidence, or develop positive relationships, your support will have a lasting impact.

The Role

As a Behaviour Specialist SEN Support Assistant, you will:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with complex behavioural and additional learning needs
  • Implement personalised behaviour support plans and intervention strategies
  • Use effective de-escalation techniques and emotional regulation approaches
  • Support the pupil to access learning and engage positively with classroom activities
  • Build a consistent, trusting, and nurturing relationship
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and pastoral team
  • Monitor progress and share observations with school staff and professionals
  • Promote independence, resilience, and positive coping strategies
  • Celebrate small successes and help build confidence every day

This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a school that values inclusion, teamwork, and positive outcomes for every child.
