Due to continued growth within the service, a Local Authority in Suffolk is looking for an experienced Private Sector Housing Officer to join the team. This is a varied opportunity, offering exposure to inspections, HMO licensing, housing standards work, complaint investigation, and wider Private Sector Housing regulation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out inspections of HMOs and privately rented properties.
• Undertake HHSRS assessments and investigate housing complaints.
• Assess property conditions and identify breaches of housing legislation.
• Support HMO and Selective Licensing schemes.
• Prepare schedules of work, notices and other statutory documentation.
• Work with landlords, tenants and managing agents to secure compliance.
• Provide advice and guidancde on housing standards and legislative requirements.
• Maintain accurate case records and contribute to service improvement initiatives.
• Liaise with internal departments and external agencies to resolve complex cases.

About you:

• Experience within a Local Authority, working in Private Sector Housing/Environmental Health.
• Strong knowlegdge of the Housing Act 2004 and associated legislation.
• Understanding of HMO Licensing Schemes.
• Experience carrying out property inspections and HHSRS assessments.
• Confident managing varied caseload and prioritising workloads effectively.
• Excellent written, organisational and communication skills.
• HHSRS Qualification.
