Being a Locksmith

Why become a locksmith?

Training as a locksmith can be a very rewarding career and has the potential to open up many avenues of work. It is also perfect for individuals who want a change from office based work and want to experience a career that takes them out and about.

What sort of work will I be doing?

People locked out of their property is an obvious thought for many people considering locksmithing however many other common jobs will be straightforward lock changes, dealing with faulty doors, security upgrades and many other lines of work many of which will become clear on our training courses.

Are there long working hours?

Hours can vary depending on the frequency and type of jobs. Many locksmiths make themselves available on a 24 Hour basis so you should be prepared to work the day or night.

How much can I earn?

The earnings potential for locksmiths is very great however it all comes down to the hours that you are prepared to put in. Many locksmiths take upwards of £1000 per week however some can earn in far excess of that.

Can I work from home?

Many locksmiths choose to operate on a mobile basis and therefore only require a van. This can be used to carry all your equipment and stock. Key cutting machines can also be installed thereby enabling a locksmith to offer many of the services of a key cutters shop but without the overheads.
